Wolf addresses GOP congressional map as Pittsburgh leaves Act 47 oversight

With a signature, a shuffle of papers, and a handshake, Pittsburgh’s time in Act 47 financial oversight came to an end Monday morning. 

Meanwhile, taking his own questions after the ceremony, Wolf, in his first public appearance since Republican legislative leaders sent him their court-ordered replacement congressional map, only reiterated his hope for a “fair map.”

State open records office rules for release of Pittsburgh Amazon bid

City, Allegheny county "believe it to be in the best interests of Pittsburgh to file a legal appeal" of ruling

On the heels of being named a finalist, the Pennsylvania Office of Open Records ruled that both Pittsburgh and Allegheny County must release their Amazon proposals to the public.

The ruling came after local television reporter Paul Van Osdol, who works for Pittsburgh ABC affiliate WTAE, filed right-to-know requests with both the city and county for the contents of their proposals to attract the multi-billion dollar online retail chain’s second headquarters.

As lead levels rise, PWSA faces state oversight, possible restructuring in new year

The amount of lead in Pittsburgh’s water rose by six parts per billion according to a Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority report Monday, confirming analysis by both the County Controller’s office and a Pittsburgh media outlet. 

 

The latest round of Department of Environmental Protection mandated testing showed the city’s water at 21 ppb. The federal action level for lead, triggering pipe replacements and other remedial actions, is 15 ppb.
