Caucuses urge budget’s signature as Gov. Corbett continues review

The day after the $29.1 billion FY 2014-2015 state budget was passed by the General Assembly, all four legislative caucuses urged Gov. Tom Corbett to sign the measure.

Gov. Corbett said in a release following the budget’s passage that he will review the budget so as to determine its impacts as he considers whether to sign the bill.

Pension reform sent back to committee, review to take place over summer

The administration-backed Tobash hybrid pension reform plan was sent to the House Human Services Committee Tuesday afternoon by a 106-95 vote. As a result of this action, a pension reform review group will be formed to examine the issue.

Despite having the support of the Corbett administration, and following weeks of lobbying by House Republican leadership and administration officials, the result of today’s House action was not surprising.

“We knew we didn’t have all the votes on our side,” said Steve Miskin, press secretary for the Speaker and House Majority Leader.
