League of Women Voters of Pennsylvania discusses gerrymandering lawsuit

The legal director for the public interest law center, Mimi Mckenzie kicked off a press conference Wednesday afternoon after a hearing on the League of Women Voters of Pennsylvania v. Commonwealth of Pennsylvania lawsuit.

Members of the League of Women Voters of Pennsylvania joined to discuss their views relative to the 2011 Congressional map, currently the subject of the litigation.

Drunk drivers may face higher fees beginning January 11th

Sen. John Rafferty (R-Chester) has sponsored a handful of bills to get drunk drivers off the road. Starting today, January 11th, drivers are still able to refuse a blood-alcohol test when pulled over by police, but if they are convicted and lose their license they will have to pay a high restoration fee to get it back, costing them up to two thousand dollars.

Gov. Wolf issues statewide disaster declaration for the opioid crisis

Gov. Tom Wolf announced Wednesday he is issuing a statewide disaster declaration for the opioid crisis.

 

The declaration puts into action a 90 day state constitutionally-limited period where additional state resources can be coordinated and regulations waived en masse in order to jump start an offense against the heroin and opioid epidemic.
