As Wolf pushes for minimum wage increase, lawmakers hear from skeptics of the proposal

At least two researchers believe a proposal to raise the state’s minimum wage would ultimately damage the state’s economy, as a House committee launched a series of hearings on the matter Tuesday.

The House Labor and Industry Committee heard from two conservative economists and both underscored their belief that a provision in Gov. Tom Wolf’s budget to raise the minimum wage to $15 by 2025 would result in job losses.

Committee amends, passes deadline extension on senior tax refund program

Philadelphia City Council’s Committee on Finance passed an ordinance Tuesday extending the deadline for low-income senior citizens to apply for a refund or forgiveness of real estate taxes. Residents would now have until March 15 to file this year.
