Residents wary of PWSA rate increases even with promised investments

The Pennsylvania Utility Commission held a public hearing to gauge residents' feelings on the Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority’s proposed raise to residential rates Tuesday.

The suggested increase for 2019 is 17.1 percent, which the authority says will fund $74 million in infrastructure improvements and provide $163 million for maintenance and operations.

Over one million Pennsylvanians have used online voter registration services

Pennsylvania voters have had three years to register to vote online — and over one million have taken advantage of it.

According to the Department of State, 1,092,407 people have used the state’s online portal to either file new voter registrations or update existing registrations. About 60 percent are newly registered, while 40 percent changed registrations.
