Philadelphia City Council approved amendments to a bill that will provide for lead paint inspections in residential units Thursday, setting up for a vote next week that’s been asked for by advocates and citizens for months.
The legislation, introduced by Councilmember Blondell Reynolds Brown (D-At Large), would now give property owners and landlords more time to prepare rental units for lead-safe certification and longer periods before requiring renewal. This will update existing laws passed in 2012.
