Lt. Gov. Stack held a press conference to address rumors

Wednesday afternoon Lt. Governor Mike Stack held a press conference where he discussed the Office of Inspector General investigation and apologized for mistakes that he has made. 

Lt. Gov. Stack stated that he is, "glad I'm familiar with the two magic words, 'i'm sorry' because I've had to use them a lot in my life."

House Speaker supports paid maternity leave for House employees

After a review of the benefits for employees of the House of Representatives, Speaker Mike Turzai (R-Allegheny) issued a statement earlier this week noting his support for providing House employees with twelve weeks of paid maternity leave.

 

"After conducting an extensive review of our benefit policies, as well as those offered by other employers in both the private and public sector, I support instituting a paid maternity leave policy for House employees," he said.

PA Treasurer looks to save money through “passive” investment strategy

State Treasurer Joe Torsella announced earlier this week that, in a move expected to save $195 million over 20 years, all of the Commonwealth’s $2.4 billion public equity investments will be managed through a “passive” investment strategy.

 

According to Torsella, the move will save $5 million paid in fees each year to investment managers that he says often underperform in the market and will be a step toward ending the pay-to-play culture that has existed in the Treasury and other areas of state government.
