Rep. Miller hopes his bill could reduce number of teenage suicides

Rep. Dan Miller (D-Allegheny) recently introduced House Bill 2057 which would require a mental health checkup for students at the age of 14.

Parents have the choice to opt out of having their child go to the checkup, but Rep. Miller believes it could help catch depression and other mental health issues before it is to late.

Rep. Miller sat down with The PLS Reporter and discussed his thoughts on the newly introduced bill. With suicide being the second leading cause of death for teenagers, Rep. Miller felt like something is needed to be done to prevent that.
