The House Industry and Labor Committee discussed the potential legislation Wednesday that aims to prevent local municipalities from creating their own labor policies.

Metcalfe committee tirade prompts Democratic calls for chair resignation

After Rep. Daryl Metcalfe’s (R-Butler) outburst Tuesday over a touch on the arm from Rep. Matthew Bradford (D-Montgomery) that led to the former questioning the sexuality of the latter, Democrats are calling for Metcalfe to resign as majority chairman of the House State Government  Committee.

As the majority chair of that committee, Metcalfe controls whether any civil rights legislation could reach the House floor, including HB 1410, written by Rep. Dan Frankel (D-Allegheny), which would provide workplace discrimination protections for LGBT individuals to state law.

Reintroduced PA Fairness Act aims to protect the PA LGBT community

Rep. Dan Frankel (D-Allegheny) recently announced that has reintroduced his proposal that would create the Pennsylvania Fairness Act.

The legislation, this session in House Bill 1410, has bipartisan support in the legislature and its goal is to protect lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) Pennsylvanians from sexual orientation and gender identity discrimination statewide in the workplace, housing market, and public accommodations.

Levine speaks out  for the LGBT community

Levine speaks out for the LGBT community

Pennsylvania's physician general, Rachel Levine, joined members of the LGBT community this morning to call for an end to the LGBT violence and discrimination. 


Levine started her speech by saying that the shooting this past weekend in Orlando was "an act of terrorism and a hate crime against the LGBT community."
