Commission on Sentencing hears complaints on risk assessment instrument

If a risk assessment tool suggested Jesus Christ, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and Luke Skywalker were highly likely to return to prison or cause trouble in society, should Pennsylvania use it?

That question, among others, confronted members of the Pennsylvania Commission on Sentencing Tuesday, as three days of public testimony kicked off in Philadelphia. Under scrutiny is the Sentence Risk Assessment Instrument used to determine if an individual should be incarcerated or receive alternative sentencing.
