Ortitay hopes to make schools safer with threat assessment teams, shooter training

There’s no clear, unified answer on how to curb school shootings in the US, but that hasn’t stopped lawmakers across the country from trying.

Pennsylvania legislators have attempted to take a balanced approach by helping schools enhance their security, while also making it easier to report potential threats. As lawmakers in the General Assembly — and across the country — continue searching for answers, one state legislator wants to build off the state’s Safe2Say anonymous tip reporting system and provide additional funding to schools for employee self-defense training.
