Proposed Pittsburgh bike lane advisory board could have impact on statewide guidelines

During Wednesday’s Finance and Law Committee of the Pittsburgh City Council, Councilwoman Theresa Kail-Smith (District 2) said her proposed advisory board could give Pittsburgh a say in shaping the state’s guidelines on bike lanes.

In order to address the current trend of increasing bike lanes across the city, the Councilwoman introduced a proposal last week to create an advisory board that will allow biking stakeholders, the administration and residents of the city to work together to decide where the alternative transportation lanes should and shouldn’t be placed.

Pittsburgh City Councilwoman wants more inclusion when it comes to new bike lanes

Pittsburgh City Councilwoman Theresa Kail-Smith (District 2) introduced a piece of legislation Tuesday that would create an advisory board on bike lane infrastructure across the city.

In order to address the current trend of increasing bike lanes, the Councilwoman hopes the advisory board will allow biking stakeholders, the administration and residents of the city to work together to decide where the alternative transportation lanes should and shouldn’t be placed.
