Rep. Frankel leads the charge on legislative action against hate-crimes in Pennsylvania

House Democratic Caucus Chairman Frankel (D-Squirrel Hill), along with House colleagues and faith leaders held a news conference Monday morning in Pittsburgh to discuss the aftermath of the events in Charlottesville, Virginia and to call for legislative action on House Bill 505 and/or Senate Bill 96, also known as the Fairness Act.  


“No group was left untouched in Charlottesville, said Frankel. “It was racism, anti-Semitism, anti-Muslim, it was anti-LGBT, anti- anything you can think of was found in that demonstration. While we saw a comprehensive expression of hate, we want a comprehensive reaction to it. And one of the ways to do that is to finally address hate crimes in Pennsylvania in a comprehensive way.”

Legislators discuss bills to increase voter registration

A bicameral group of legislators gathered together Tuesday to discuss legislation they hope helps to promote the ongoing dialogue for easier access to voting and voter registration in Pennsylvania.

The Democratic group of Senators and Representatives noted their concerns, for the last four years, with the lack of movement in addressing voting problems in the commonwealth, but continued that discussion today by speaking of key legislation that tackles the issue at hand.

Gov. Wolf hosts Pittsburgh roundtable on issue of opioid addiction

In an effort to tackle the issue of babies being born with neonatal abstinence syndrome due to opiate addicted mothers, Gov. Tom Wolf, along with local government and hospital officials, toured and hosted a roundtable discussion at Magee-Women’s Hospital of UPMC in Pittsburgh on Friday to learn best practices on how the administration can continue to fight the opioid epidemic.
