Oleksiak takes on Labor and Industry lead full time without Senate confirmation

Gov. Tom Wolf’s pick to lead the Department of Labor and Industry (L&I), Jerry Oleksiak, will take over the reins at the department full time after the Pennsylvania Senate failed to give him an up or down vote on the floor in time to meet the constitutional requirement for consideration within 25 legislative days from the governor’s nomination.

The L&I position became open after former secretary Kathy Manderino stepped down from the role in mid-July to take a spot on the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board.
