Second mini-casino license winning bid is another state budget boon

After just two runs through the first round of bidding for the right to build a Category 4 so-called “mini-casino,” total bids have exceeded the minimum expected amount from the entire first round. The second right to a license was obtained Wednesday by Stadium Casino, LLC, for a winning bid of $40.1 million.

First category 4 license goes for $50.1 million, locates in York County

The first round of bidding for Pennsylvania’s newest brand of casinos started Wednesday just prior to the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board’s regular meeting and the winning bid went to Mountain View Thoroughbred Racing Association, a subsidiary of Penn National Gaming that operates Hollywood Casino in Grantville, Pennsylvania, just outside of Hershey.
