Three Wolf administration acting secretaries recommended in committee for Senate floor vote

The Senate Health and Human Services Committee unanimously advanced three acting secretary nominations Monday.

Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs Acting Secretary Jennifer Smith, Department of Human Services Acting Secretary Teresa Miller, and Department of Health Acting Secretary and Physician General Rachel Levine all were sent to the Senate Rules and Executive Nominations Committee with the committee’s favorable recommendation.

Gov. Wolf issues statewide disaster declaration for the opioid crisis

Gov. Tom Wolf announced Wednesday he is issuing a statewide disaster declaration for the opioid crisis.

 

The declaration puts into action a 90 day state constitutionally-limited period where additional state resources can be coordinated and regulations waived en masse in order to jump start an offense against the heroin and opioid epidemic.

Gov. Tom Wolf announced Thursday that he has nominated the acting heads of the Departments of Health, Human Services, and Drug and Alcohol Programs as well as the Acting Insurance Commissioner to permanently lead the posts they currently hold.
