DePasquale announces audit of contract to revamp statewide radio system

Auditor General Eugene DePasquale held a press conference Thursday morning where he shared his anger and annoyance towards the failing statewide radio system that Pennsylvania State Police and first responders have been using. 

DePasquale stated that he will soon be starting an audit of the contract for the statewide radio system.

House members focus on bills to curb sexual misconduct in the workplace

The House Labor and Industry Committee reviewed several bills intended to minimize sexual harassment in the workplace during a public hearing Tuesday.

Rep. Sheryl Delozier (R-Cumberland) and Rep. Donna Oberlander (R-Clarion) are sponsors of House Resolution 828, which would create a specific task force to review current laws and procedures and provide suggestions for improvements.

A group of Senators gathered Monday morning to resolve lingering questions on the cost and a possible audit of the state’s emergency response radio system.

The current project, P25, is just the latest iteration of an ongoing program since 1996 to connect every policeman, firefighter and other first responders across a unified communication grid.

But a co-sponsor memo from three western Pennsylvania House Republicans would try and push forward with oft talked about but still unachieved transparency reforms that would open up such information on Pennsylvania’s state-related university system to the public.

DePasquale to audit Port Authority of Allegheny County

“Through this audit my team will review the Port Authority’s operation and, if necessary, make recommendations to improve how it can better support the growing economy in greater Pittsburgh,” DePasquale said in a release. 

The report will focus specifically on the authority’s hiring practices for police officers and drivers, as well as how the Port Authority manages its service routes.
