Auditor General Eugene DePasquale this week issued an audit excoriating the state-appointed Philadelphia Parking Authority governing board for essentially abdicating its oversight authority leading to a run-amok executive director and potentially huge losses to the School District of Philadelphia. Following the release of the audit, more state lawmakers stepped up calls to end state control over the authority and return control to the City of Philadelphia.

In an outburst that drew national attention, House State Government Committee Majority Chairman Daryl Metcalfe (R-Butler) made accusatory and inflammatory remarks about his Democratic counterpart's sexuality for touching him after being asked to stop. The situation has caused some lawmakers, and even Gov. Tom Wolf, to ask that he be removed as chairman of the committee that oversees non-discrimination legislation.

Friday, Gov. Tom Wolf was joined by the First Lady and DGS Sec. Curtis Topper, among other dignitaries, to light the Capitol's Christmas Tree. This year, the 22-foot Douglas Fir came from a property in Lehighton, Carbon County.

Following the ceremony, Gov. and Mrs. Wolf enjoyed lunch in Harrisburg's Strawberry Square. Looks like they ate Italian fare.
