Here are the highlights from news conferences, rallies, and advocacy days held in the Capitol today:

  • The Campaign for Fair Education Funding (CFEF) held a press conference today in the Main Rotunda to call for increased education funding in the state budget. Joan Benso, President and CEO of Pennsylvania Partnerships for Children, said Pennsylvania has the largest funding gap between rich and poor school districts and described the current system as unreliable and unpredictable.
  • Rep. Jake Wheatley (D-Allegheny) and Rep. Ed Gainey (D-Allegheny) were joined by NFL quarterback Mike Vick for a press conference today calling for action on HB 1516.  Rep. Wheatley explained that the legislation, also known as the Hot Dog bill, would prohibit the confinement of a dog or cat in an unattended motor vehicle in a manner that would endanger the health and well-being of the animal.
